THE TELEVISION CRITICS ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES ITS ANNUAL CELEBRATION OF TV COVERAGE
LOS ANGELES – (December 15, 2023) – The Television Critics Association (TCA), a non-profit organization representing more than 200 professional North American journalists who cover television, has compiled a list of its membership’s favorite stories from 2023 — highlighting the year’s best features, interviews, articles, and more, as submitted by its network of industry professionals spanning across the United States and Canada. The selection is available for review at the association’s website here.
For the third consecutive year, each TCA member had the opportunity to submit one story that they believe embodies the pinnacle of their work from the year, accompanied by a brief description explaining the context of the article and its significance to the author. Whether in-depth reviews, major newsbreaks, heavily researched retrospectives, or heartfelt profiles, each piece represents an important part of the writer’s 2023 portfolio, and serves as an intriguing glimpse into the year that was. Though industry strikes presented challenging obstacles for journalists to navigate, the list is proof that there were still plenty of intriguing topics to cover in the television landscape.
This year’s selections paint a wide-ranging portrait of the issues, entertainers, controversies, and victories that defined the 2023 television season — putting the spotlight on acclaimed series such as “Ted Lasso,” “The Bear,” “Reservation Dogs,” “Fargo,” “Yellowjackets,” “The Simpsons,” “The Last of Us,” and more. The articles cover a diverse blend of stories including the growing concerns over AI, the WGA strike that rocked the industry, the rise in adult-focused animation, the impact of mothers on their famous offspring, and the importance of representation, among many other timely themes.
